First Visit

We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of potential treatment options. This important visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs. If it is determined that treatment is recommended, arrangements are made for diagnostic records. The records include x-rays, photos and impressions or a scan of your mouth, which are necessary for developing the appropriate treatment plan. During the initial examination for each patient, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment. We encourage you to ask questions as well.

For those patients with orthodontic insurance, please bring your insurance card when filling out your new patient forms or bring the card to your appointment. By providing this information at the first visit, we will be able to give you an estimate of your costs. You can download our new patient forms and bring them to your appointment. Our new patient forms will be emailed to you in advance when your appointment is made and should be completed prior to your first appointment.

Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
How long will treatment take?
How much will it cost?
What are my payment options?
While we can often answer these general questions about treatment during the initial examination, we will address specific areas after careful analysis of the diagnostic records. We feel it is important to analyze each patient’s specific needs, because in-depth planning leads to superior results and higher patient satisfaction.

Dr. Ostertag is kind, thoughtful and a wonderful orthodontist. My daughter had some previous poor experiences with dental and ortho and he won her over which is not easy. He had more than one possible approach to her treatment and that made all the difference.

I am from Florida and am in town for work here in Wi. The hooks for my rubber bands were tearing up my mouth and I needed someone to look at it ASAP as I wouldn’t be home for another two weeks. They were able to take a look at me and help me out same day. The staff were wonderful and the doctor was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this practice if you’re looking for orthodontic needs!

We have had a fantastic experience with Dr. Kreul over the years. He did my first daughter's braces and we had many free consultations for the years preceding her braces. He has been doing free consultations for several years already on my younger daughter. He is always kind, gentle with my children, and respectful. His staff has always been professional in the years since we've been seeing him. I would highly recommend this orthodontist.
